About Us - Exotic Birds Store

Our Mission

Our mission at Exotic Birds Store is to connect bird lovers with healthy, well-cared-for companion birds. As a husband-and-wife operated business, we are committed to providing quality canaries, finches, parrots, and other beautiful species while putting proper care, nutrition, and well-being first. We personally breed our canaries and work with trusted local breeders to offer other bird species to our customers.

We believe bringing a bird into your home should be a positive and enjoyable experience. From responsible handling and proper nutrition to thoughtful care, we place the health and comfort of every bird at the forefront. Whether you are welcoming your first companion bird or adding to your feathered family, our goal is to provide quality birds, dependable service, and a trustworthy experience from start to finish.

Meet Jason & Melisa

Welcome to Exotic Birds Store. We are Jason Smith and Melisa Hegwood, a husband-and-wife team who share a genuine appreciation for companion birds and the joy they can bring to a home. We operate our business from home, allowing us to remain closely involved in the care and preparation of the birds we personally raise.

Our approach is simple: treat every bird with care and respect while helping customers find a companion that suits their home and lifestyle. We personally breed canaries and also work with trusted local breeders to provide a wider selection of finches, parrots, and other beautiful bird species. We value honest communication, responsible care, and building lasting trust with the people we serve.

Our Canary Breeding

Canaries are the bird species we personally breed at Exotic Birds Store. We take pride in providing proper care, nutrition, and attentive handling throughout their development. Our focus is on raising healthy, well-cared-for canaries and giving each bird the attention it deserves before joining a new home.

Because we personally work with our canaries, we understand the importance of responsible care and preparation. We want customers to feel confident knowing that their new feathered companion has received thoughtful attention before becoming part of their family. Our goal is to make the process of welcoming a canary into your home simple, comfortable, and rewarding.

Our Local Breeder Network

While we personally breed canaries, we do not claim to breed every species offered through Exotic Birds Store. For our other birds, including finches, parrots, and other companion species, we work with trusted local breeders who share our commitment to responsible bird care.

Working with local breeders allows us to offer customers a broader selection while maintaining our focus on the health and well-being of the birds. We carefully consider the birds available through our breeder network and aim to work with people who prioritize proper nutrition, responsible handling, and appropriate care. This approach helps us connect customers with beautiful companion birds from reliable sources.

Our Commitment to Bird Care

At Exotic Birds Store, the well-being of our birds is at the heart of what we do. We believe every companion bird deserves proper nutrition, appropriate care, responsible handling, and a comfortable environment. Whether a bird is personally raised by us or comes through one of our trusted local breeder partners, we want its transition to a new home to be a positive experience.

We are committed to providing clear information and dependable service throughout the process. Our goal is not simply to help customers find a bird, but to help them welcome a healthy and well-cared-for companion into their home. Thank you for choosing Exotic Birds Store and for trusting Jason and Melisa to be part of your journey with your new feathered companion.
